Talent Builds I Think I’d Like To Try II (3.0.2 – Level 70)

First, I think I know what happened last week in 2v2. I had a different spec! I was trying a more standard warrior arena build, 35/23/3, one that had Enrage. The reason I tried the switch was that any game we faced with an opposing warrior that went after me doomed us, as their warrior would basically be doing 25% more damage than I would, or alternatively would be letting me feed him rage, building that up to 100 and taking his Enraged debuff over to my shaman.

Unfortunately, it does me diddly squat if no one’s attacking me, which was the case in all 10 games!

This week I’m going to include some explanations instead of just throwing them out there.

Mage
Fire PvE THE WORLD SHALL BURN! AAAAAAGH!!! -Kael’Thas Sunstrider, 0/58/3 – Full fire in all its burny glory. Plenty of AoE, plenty of direct damage…maybe need more points for Elemental Precision <_< Really I had three points left and figured being able to Ice Block more often would be a good thing for this build.

I’m not sure the build will do so well, honestly, and for the purposes of raiding could probably afford to dip into Arcane for some mana help (Clearcasting, namely). Yeah, let’s change that to this 11/50/0 build, maybe.

Paladin
Holy PvE Crit Chance Batman sans 10 points, 43/0/18 – As it is, aside from some survivability, Holy paladins in raids get little from prot except for Blessing of Kings and Improved Concentration Aura. Now that Improved Concentration Aura is in Holy, the only reason to go into Prot (for PvE, anyway) is Blessing of Kings, which, while a 5-point dump instead of 11 now, is less appetizing than the stuff we can get out of Ret. With the homogenization of melee and spell crit, there’s 8% more spell crit over there we can get! As well as a 10% reduction on instant-cast spells, though that is a minor consideration since it’ll really only affect blessings and Holy Shock now that Infusion of Light got nerfed (which was to be expected I think). Improved Blessing of Might and Deflection are kind of just throwaway points, though Imp BoM might be useful to your raid if say the resident Ret paladin didn’t take it (or you’re the only paladin in the raid).

Adding it all up, that’s a +13% chance to crit with Holy Spells from talents, and +19% to Holy Light and Holy Shock.

Holy PvP with a couple options, 46/15/0 – I say a couple options as the points could fluctuate depending on player preference. You have two extra points that I put in Divine Intellect and three in Sacred Cleansing that could be shifted around, moved into the Prot tree perhaps for Improved Righteous Fury (for buff padding/damage reduction) or Improved Devotion Aura (which increases healing now!). Mostly focuses on debuff inhibition, similar to the level 80 version I planned out yesterday but without Pure of Heart (since we don’t yet have Death Knights in the game, only half of this talent is really of any use in PvP).

In both of these builds I do not include Beacon of Light or the two new Judgement-based talents (increased range/hit chance and the spell haste buff after casting one). These builds are meant to build on existing playstyles rather than make the switch to the new one(s).

Warrior
Fury PvE 13/48/0 – I think this would be the obvious next step from the previous standard 17/44/0. Since Titan Grip, as it stands, is going to potentially not be the dps increase it could be for many warriors (unless they were already stacking +hit), I think this will work better for them. This includes me by the way, though my dps gear is pretty much PvP gear…has some +hit but definitely doesn’t offset 15% by any means. (I can switch out my gloves for the Furious Deathgrips (badge reward) to get up to about 100-some +hit, but that’s only 6-7%. Isn’t going to cut it.)

Anyway, the change in Deep Wounds/Impale and Enrage no longer being a prerequisite for Flurry free up some points. This particular build is again for raids, and relies on having a Feral Druid about (hence the lack of Rampage). However, if you run a lot of 5-mans, you might want Rampage, and I would recommend cannibalizing the point from Anger Management, or perhaps one from Unending Fury.
